RASD Superintendent Update – September 2026
Dear RASD Families,
The 2026–2027 school year is off to a smooth, vibrant, and exciting start here in Ridgway! We are thrilled to welcome our students back into the classrooms, hallways, and activities that make our schools such a special place.
As we step into this new school year together, we are embracing a theme that speaks to strength, growth, and adaptability: the palm tree.
Anyone who has spent time around schools knows that education is always moving forward. Schedules evolve, new learning strategies are introduced, and we constantly refine our methods to ensure our students get the very best. Sometimes, navigating these changes means learning to bend rather than resist.
That is where the palm tree gives us a wonderful lesson. Unlike trees with stiff branches that fight the wind until they break, the palm bends gracefully with the breeze. Its fronds yield to the pressure, allowing the storm to pass through safely. Its flexibility is its greatest strength.
In our schools, we are teaching and practicing that same spirit of flexibility. When new challenges or updated goals come our way, we embrace them as opportunities to grow and elevate our standard of education for your children.
Even more importantly, beneath the surface, the palm tree’s roots run deep. No matter how strong the winds of change may blow, those roots anchor it firmly to the ground. For us at RASD, our roots are our core values: our shared purpose, our deep care for our students, and our strong partnership with you, our families. Programs and schedules may update over time, but our commitment to your children remains unshakeable.
Our top priority will always be ensuring that every child enters a safe, supportive, and engaging environment every single day. We look forward to working hand-in-hand with you to make this a school year filled with meaningful learning, personal triumphs, and lasting memories.
